Cartoon: Our Second Year – Text Description
The cartoon is an A4 size, with a title, followed by a full-width image then four half-width images. The colours used are the project brand colours – different blues and greys with accents of yellow and purple.
The title ‘Our Second Year’ is followed by cartoon images of the faces of the team members with their names underneath: Ann, Léa, Delia, Hilary, Iryna, Eva and Neža.
The first full-width picture shows the researchers in a conference room. There is a title, ‘This is the last meeting of Year 2…’. Delia says, “Another year has passed!” Ann replies, “Indeed … and we have greatly advanced our empirical research on barriers to cultural participation!” Neža adds, “We also advanced our research on EU Law!” Hilary says, “Moreover, we welcomed a second PhD researcher and a research assistant!” Iryna and Eva wave.
The second picture is in the same conference room. Ann says, “We have interviewed representatives of organisations of persons with disabilities from all EU countries and the UK!” Delia adds, “…and representatives of organisations working on arts and disability…”
The third picture is set in the same conference room, but this time, filming equipment can be seen in the background. Léa says, “…and we began the filming of the DANCING documentary!” Iryna adds, “This is another great way to communicate our research.”
The fourth picture is also in the conference room. Delia says, “During this second year we published various articles, blog posts and case notes.” Lea says, “…and also had one article written jointly by the whole team!” Ann adds “…and it was published by the Journal of Human Rights Practice!
The last picture shows some of the team members walking across campus. Eva says, “We also organised a great conference together with other projects!” Ann says, “Yes, the ‘Open Up Museums’ conference in Italy was a highlight of this second year!” Hilary says, “Moreover, we hosted an interdisciplinary workshop here in Maynooth… with the choreographer and the producer that will create a dance performance for DANCING!” Delia concludes, “We accomplished a lot this year… but plenty is still to come!”
